Drink Coffee & Fight Cancer!

Many of you know that Get The Bean is a proud fighter of cancer. When we started our coffee website we decided to donate part of our proceeds to various cancer charities. But, we wanted to do more than just send money! We wanted to share the many inspirational stories and donate money to various charities. This is why we started GTB Fights Cancer.

Get The Bean asks people to send in their cancer journey stories, whether they are fighters, supporters or caregivers. Then we put every story on our blog GTB Fights Cancer. Every month, starting January 2009, Get The Bean will pick one story from the blog. The author of the story will be asked to pick any item from Get The Bean and then pick a charity. For the next year, every time that item is purchased a portion of the purchase price will be donated to the charity they chose.

If you visit our website you can click on the tab Charity Coffee and you will be able to see what items are part of this charitable program. Any item purchased under Charity Coffee will help fight cancer, how great is that!

To start the new year off we at Get The Bean have decided to pick TWO stories from GTB Fights Cancer:

Jettychan & Deena

if you would like to read their stories just click on their names!

Jettychan has chosen Hawaiian Hazelnut coffee and her charity is: SAMFund Surviving and Moving Forward.

From now until January 2010 Get The Bean will Donate $$ to The SAMFund every time there is a purchase of Hawaiian Hazelnut coffee, whether it is whole bean, ground, regular or decaf. At the end of the year we will announce the grand total donated to the SAMFund.

Deena has chosen House Blend coffee and her charity is: Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund of Clare County.

From now until January 2010 Get The Bean will Donate $$ to Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund of Clare County every time there is a purchase of House Blend coffee, whether it is whole bean, ground, regular or decaf. At the end of the year we will announce the grand total donated to Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund of Clare County

If you have a cancer story that you would like to submit to our charity program please send an email to fightcancer@getthebean.com

Hi Meaghan - Just found your blog. You have an amazing and inspirational story. And you have used your experience to do something to help others. Congratulations on your new venture, your graduation, and your courage to perservere and kick cancer's ass! Happy New Year. Keep living each day! Art

PS: It is funny how we think when we find out we have cancer. One of my first thoughts was "I am going to kick it's ass!" So far, so good!

This is just an awesome thing you are doing. It's odd how we take the bad and can make some good out of it!
